Union, N.J. (9/5/10) – Senior
Randi Vizoco netted two goals, including what
would be the game-winner as the Kean University women's
soccer team posted their third straight win to open the 2010 season
defeating Muhlenberg College, 3-2, in the Cougar Classic.
The Cougars (3-0) got on the board just 38 seconds into the match
as junior Danielle Esposito hit a breakaway shot from the right
side. Vizoco gave KU a 2-0 lead in the 33rd minute
off an assist from rookie Carla Vitola.
The Mules (1-0-1) pulled within one as Megan
O'Grady launched a ball from 30 yards out over the
leaping keeper in the 53rd minute. Vizoco again
took a pass from Vitola (pictured right) at 63:02 and pushed the
ball passed the drawn out keeper for a 3-1 lead. Muhlenberg
struck with a penalty kick goal at 72:45 off the foot of
Nicolette Miller.
Senior Leandra Russo stopped four shots for the
Cougars while keepers Michele Toher and Amanda
Wong combined for five saves for Muhlenberg.
Kean held the advantage in both shots (16-8) and corner kicks
(6-1).
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September
8th when they host FDU College at Florham at 7:30
