Union, N.J. (10/4/11) – Senior Olivia Triano fired off two goals in the second half to break a one-all tie and give the Kean University field hockey team a 3-1 win over visiting FDU-Florham on Tuesday evening.
With the win the Cougars improve to 7-3 overall while the loss drops the Devils to 5-7 this season.
After a scoreless first half, senior Cat Dowling got Kean on the board in the first minute of action with a redirected shot from the left side of the cage that was fed by Triano.
FDU-Florham tied things up four minutes into the stanza with a goal from senior Lauren Guenther off an assist from junior Corey VanOrden.
Triano then fired a hard shot through a crowded defense at the 53:00 minute mark to put Kean ahead and added insurance with another unassisted goal at 63:54 with a flicked shot from the right side.
Junior Kelly Bachovchin (pictured left) recorded two defensive saves in the win for Kean while freshman Niki Ikeda added one for the Devils. Netminder Erin Langan tallied two saves while sophomore Tess Loughran recorded four.
Kean returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Richard Stockton College for a 2 p.m. matchup.
