Owings Mills, Md. (2/26/11) – The Kean
University men's lacrosse team fell to #3 Stevenson
University by the final of 19-5 Saturday afternoon in
non-conference action.
The Cougars (1-1) kept the game within reach after two periods as
the Mustangs (3-0) held a 6-3 lead going into halftime. After
jumping out to a 6-0 lead, the Cougars starting putting goals on
the board with three straight to close out the second period.
Sophomore Tom Clifford (pictured left) got Kean
going with a goal off an assist from Ryan Buerkle
and junior Nick Angrisani added another a minute
later off a pass from Clifford. Freshman Richard
Cheifitz scored the final goal of the period off an assist
from Brian Maggi.
But Stevenson then surged through the next 30 minutes scoring 13
goals to put the game out of reach.
Angrisani finished with two goals while Clifford had one goal
and two assists in the loss.
Sophomore Lane Zierten suffered the loss in
goal in just over 55 minutes of action.
Kean will travel to Castleton State College for a 3:30 p.m.
matchup on Wednesday, March 2nd.
