Union, N.J. (3/19/11) – The College at Brockport scored six goals in the second half to surge past the Kean University men's lacrosse team by the final of 9-5 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Junior Nate Thomas led the Golden Eagles (1-4) to their first win of the season as he recorded two goals and two assists. Junior Nick Angrisani (pictured left) led Kean (4-2) with a goal and an assist in the loss.
Both teams battled to a 3-3 tie at the break. Kean got things started with the game's first two goals as sophomore Tom Clifford scored an unassisted goal with 10:37 to go in the first and Angrisani followed that was a goal from freshman Todd Petrone with 7:32 remaining. It was Brockport's turn as they tied things up with a goal from Jesse Elliott (Thomas) and Kevin Conlon (Mike Tammaro). The Cougars and Golden Eagles then traded goals again in the second quarter for the three-all draw at halftime.
After trading goals in the third quarter Brockport would go on to score five straight over the next 15 plus minutes to take a 9-4 lead and put the game out of reach. Senior Andy Hilton recorded two goals in the run.
Sophomore Lane Zierten suffered the loss in goal after recording five saves in just over 57 minutes of action. Senior Kyle Crosley earned the win with 11 saves.
Junior Rob Child caused three turnovers and recorded three groundballs for Kean.
Kean returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Drew University.
