Women's Lacrosse Falls to Ramapo, 18-8

Mahwah, N.J. (4/19/11) – The Ramapo College women's lacrosse team used a five goal run to end the first half on their way to defeating Kean University by the final of 18-8, Tuesday afternoon in both NJAC and Skyline Conference action.

With the loss the Cougars fall to 8-7 overall, 5-3 in the Skyline and 1-3 in the NJAC.  The win improves the Roadrunners to 9-4 overall, 7-1 in the Skyline and 1-3 in the NJAC.

Ramapo jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after scoring two goals in the first 29 seconds of action.  Kean pulled to within one as senior Amanda South scored her first goal of the game.  The Roadrunners quickly added two more in the span of 30 seconds for a 4-1 advantage.  Kean sophomore Lyndsey Cannon (pictured left) would score with 13:44 to go in the half, but Ramapo then surged with five goals to close out the half and take a 9-2 halftime lead.

The Roadrunners then paced the second half with nine more goals as Kean was unable to overcome the first half deficit.

Kean was led by Cannon who finished with four goals while South and senior Joelle Vitale added two apiece. 

Kean closes out the regular season on Saturday as they travel to take on Rowan University at 1 p.m.
