SCRANTON, Pa. (9/14/11) – Juniors Carly Seidel and Kristen Hager each scored goals, as the Kean University women's soccer team battled The University of Scranton to a 2-2 tie in double overtime in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
Kean (3-2-1) took the early 1-0 lead just 2:34 into the contest, Seidel (pictured left) blasted the shot from 20-yards out for her second goal of the season. Hager extended the Cougar lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute, with a shot just six yards out.
The Royals (3-1-1) would cut the Kean lead in half in the 29th minute, as Sarah Gibbons netted the unassisted goal, before Caila Zappala knotted the score at 2-2 in the 38th minute, scoring off the pass from Courtney O'Kane.
The Royals held a narrow 11-10 advantage in shots over the Cougars, while also posting a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Goalkeepers Kaitlin King and Caitlin Hoskins each made two saves for Kean.
The Cougars open New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday, September 17, when they host Richard Stockton College at 4:30 p.m.
