Union, N.J. (9/17/11) – The Kean University women's soccer team shutout visiting Richard Stockton College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both.
Junior Carly Seidel got things started for the Cougars (4-2-1, 1-0 NJAC) in the 17th minute as she hit a hard shot around the goalie from the right side for a 1-0 lead. Junior Kristen Hager would make it 2-0 with a header from the left post off a cross from senior Danielle Esposito at 38:44.
Kean would add one more in the second half as junior Julianna Natale was awarded a penalty shot. Sophomore Sarah Hinkle made the initial save, but Natale (pictured left) scooped up the rebound and fired in what would be the final goal of the day.
Hinkle tallied four saves in the loss for Stockton (4-2-2, 0-1 NJAC).
The Cougars travel to take on Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:30 p.m. while Stockton travels to the College of New Jersey, same date and time.
