NEWARK, N.J. (9/21/11) – Kean University
received goals from four different players and the Cougar defense
allowed just five shots to post a 4-0 shutout victory over
Rutgers-Newark in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's
soccer action on Wednesday evening.
Junior forward Teghan Pecherski and Carly
Seidel each had a goal and an assist for the Cougars
(5-2-1, 2-0 NJAC). Rutgers-Newark goalkeeper Danielle
Griscom made 10 saves for the Scarlet Raiders (2-6, 0-1
NJAC).
Sophomore midfielder Carla Vitola (pictured
left) scored what proved to be the game-winner in the
26th minute on a crossing pass from the right baseline
from Pecherski. Pecherski headed in an insurance goal less
than two minutes later on a pass from junior Julianna
Natale.
In the second half, senior Danielle Esposito
scored on a cross from Seidel in the 65th minute, before
Seidel closed out the closing when she took a through pass from
freshman midfielder Carly Snyder for the breakaway
goal with 20 minutes left.
Kean goalkeeper Caitlin Hoskins needed to make
just one second half save for the victory.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, September 24, when
they travel to Rutgers-Camden for an NJAC match at 1 p.m.
