Union, N.J. (10/1/12) - Senior Jillian Nealon scored the lone goal of the game midway through the second half to give #3 The College of New Jersey a 1-0 victory over Kean University in field hockey action on Monday night.
Nealon knocked in a rebound into the left side of the goal off a deflection by Erin Healy in the 48th minute. The win improves #3 ranked The College of New Jersey to 9-0 overall, and 3-0 in the conference.
Kean (4-7, 0-3 NJAC) had their best chances late in the first half. In the 33rd minute of play, the Cougars had two penalty corner attempts and a shot on goal by junior midfielder Korri Thompson, but were stopped by Lions goalkeeper Roisin Dougherty. Dougherty finished the game with two saves. Freshmen goalkeeper Katie DiCarlo finished the game with three saves.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday October 2nd, as they make the short trip to Madison, as they take FDU-Florham at 7 p.m. The Cougars return home on Tuesday, October 9th as they take on Mercy College, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
