UNION, N.J. (10/13/12) – The Kean
University men's soccer team used three second half goals to
defeat The College of New Jersey in New Jersey Athletic Conference
action, 3-1, Saturday evening.
TCNJ junior midfielder Sean Casey opened the scoring off a
Vince McEnroe corner kick 4:52 into the match. The
Cougars answered back at the 49:25 mark. Sophomore Erickson
Simeon fed the ball to senior Abner
Denis, who connected with a shot under the crossbar for
his third goal of the season. The Lions (6-10, 2-5 NJAC) were able
to retake the lead as senior Kevin Shaw found the back of
the net off a feed from teammate Kevin McCartney. Late in
the second half, junior midfielder Pat Foley
scored off a breakaway down the right wing side and beat goalkeeper
Maciej Libucha for his second goal of the season. Just
under four minutes later and with the time ticking away, rookie
Jose Arevalo (pictured left) scored off a pass
from Foley to give the Cougars (8-7, 4-3 NJAC) a 3-2 lead with 1:32
remaining.
Senior goalkeeper John Londono finished the
match with two saves, and Lions goalkeeper Maciej Libucha
finished with seven.
The Cougars head on the road to play on Wednesday, October
17th as they travel to New York University at 5 p.m.
