UNION, N.J. (10/16/12) – Sophomore
Sarah Menta scored the lone goal of the game as Western
Connecticut State University topped the Kean University
women's soccer team, 1-0, Tuesday evening.
Menta took a feed from junior Ariana D'Aurio in
the 58th minute and beat Kean goalkeeper Kaitlin
King for her second goal of the season. The Cougars
(10-3-2) had their best opportunity to score the equalizer in the
73rd minute, on a Samantha Kalafor
shot, but it was blocked by a Western Connecticut State (11-3-1)
defender.
King made two saves in her first start of the year, while senior
Jamie Thayer made three saves in the shutout effort for
the Colonials.
The Cougars return to action Saturday, October 20th
as they take on NJAC foe Rowan University at Alumni Stadium at 4:30
p.m.
