Western Connecticut Edges Women's Soccer, 1-0

UNION, N.J. (10/16/12) – Sophomore Sarah Menta scored the lone goal of the game as Western Connecticut State University topped the Kean University women's soccer team, 1-0, Tuesday evening.

Menta took a feed from junior Ariana D'Aurio in the 58th minute and beat Kean goalkeeper Kaitlin King for her second goal of the season. The Cougars (10-3-2) had their best opportunity to score the equalizer in the 73rd minute, on a Samantha Kalafor shot, but it was blocked by a Western Connecticut State (11-3-1) defender.

King made two saves in her first start of the year, while senior Jamie Thayer made three saves in the shutout effort for the Colonials.

The Cougars return to action Saturday, October 20th as they take on NJAC foe Rowan University at Alumni Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
