Women's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Tie at Richard Stockton

Galloway, N.J. (10/2/12) – The Kean University women's soccer team battled to a two-all tie in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening against host Richard Stockton College.

The Cougars now stand with a 9-1-1 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in the NJAC.  Richard Stockton is now 8-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, the Cougars struck first as rookie Deanna Columbia (pictured left) headed a cross from junior Shannon Pedersen at the 46:40 mark to take a 1-0 lead.  The Ospreys tied things up seven minutes later and took the lead at 75:15 on a header near the goal mouth.  Kean tied the game at two-all in the 83rd minute as senior Julianna Natale took a pass from Pedersen and volleyed a shot from the top of the box.  The score would remain that way for the next 28 minutes as both teams battled to a draw.

Rookie Samantha Blair recorded nine saves in the contest.

Kean returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Marywood University.
