Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (10/6/12) – Vassar College used two goals early in the first-half to push past the Kean University field hockey team by the final of 3-1, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
After falling behind, 2-0, Kean (5-8) rookie Laura Cheatham pulled the Cougars within one with a shot inside the crease to the far left post, off a pass from junior Korri Thompson. Vassar (7-4) then used a breakaway goal in the second half to seal the win.
Rookie Katie DiCarlo recorded nine saves in the loss as Kean held a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners and a 17-14 advantage in shots.
The Cougars return to action at home on Tuesday when they host Mercy College at 7:30 p.m.
