UNION, N.J. (12/1/12) - Sophomore Kelly Coughlin scored 15 points off the bench to help lead The College of New Jersey women's basketball team to a 68-41 win over Kean University Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (1-4) were paced by sophomore AnnaRose Pierre (pictured left), who led all players with 20 points, in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.
The Lions (3-2), who never trailed in the game, jumped out to an early 20-6 lead as Coughlin hit a three win 12:23 to go in the first half. Junior Kelly Roddy had six points during the stretch, while Coughlin provided three consecutive buckets, two from three-point range. Coughlin led all players with 11 first-half points while sophomore Shanice Jones recorded six assists playing all 20 minutes in the first stanza.
The Lions ended the game on 21-10 run, controlling the second-half of action.
The Lions shot just under 50 percent from behind the arc for the game, connecting for 9-of-19. Senior Candace Vigo registered 14 points while junior Tiffany De Tulio added 11 as part of three players in double-digits. Jones finished the day with 11 assists for Kean.
The Cougars stay home and will take on Rowan University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5th.
