New York, N.Y. (2/4/12) – The Kean
University men's volleyball team split in tri-match action at
New York University by defeating SUNYIT, 3-0, and falling to the
host, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
In their first match of the afternoon the Cougars topped SUNYIT
(0-5) by the final scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-15. Freshman
John Cunningham led the way with eight kills
(.467%). Rookie Ron Dunn added 21 assists as
returners Jimmy Pompeo and Michael
Fox combined for 10 digs.
In the nightcap the Cougars fell to #8 NYU (25-21, 25-20,
25-12). Kean was led by junior Steve Vahalla
who recorded nine kills while rookie Alex Barnhard
added 18 assists.
The Cougars return to Skyline Conference action on Wednesday,
February 8th when they host their first home match of
the season beginning at 7:30 p.m.
