Camden, N.J. (4/5/12) – The Kean
University women's lacrosse team picked up their second New
Jersey Athletic Conference win this week by defeating
Rutgers-Camden, 17-7, Thursday night.
The Cougars (7-4, 2-1 NJAC) were led by junior Lyndsey
Cannon who tallied six goals and an assist while adding
eight groundballs and two draw controls. With the loss
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
It was a see-saw affair early in tonight's matchup as the
Cougars used a short 3-0 burst to take a 3-1 week before the
Scarlet Raptors used a three goal spurt of their own to take a 4-3
lead. Kean then controlled the final 12 minutes of the half
scoring seven additional goals to take a 10-5 lead into the
break. Cannon scored all six of her goals in the first half
while sophomore Julie Knodt added two.
Kean then paced the second half scoring an additional seven
goals, while allowing just two the rest of the way. Junior
Stephanie Tocko (pictured left) finished the night
with five goals and an assist while sophomore Ciara
Mastrodomenico tallied three goals, an assist, four
groundballs and five draw controls.
Junior Jules Keeley recorded five saves in the
win.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they travel to
take on the Sage Colleges in Skyline action.
