Roanoke, Va. (9/15/12) – Washington & Lee University scored with 10 seconds to go to force overtime and converted in the extra period, edging the Kean University field hockey team, 2-1, Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Laura Cheatham scored the game's first goal midway through the second half off a goalkeeper deflection to give Kean (3-4) a 1-0 lead. The Generals then forced overtime as Candice Stefanic scored with just 10 seconds remaining in regulation. Late in the sudden victory period, Caroline Andress gave Washington & Lee the win with a game-winner at 78:24.
Rookie Katie DiCarlo recorded 10 saves in the loss.
Kean returns to action on Sunday when they face off against Roanoke College.
