Union, N.J. (9/5/12) – The Kean University women's soccer team used a second half surge to top visiting FDU-Florham by the final of 4-0, Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
The Cougars improve to 3-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Devils to 0-3.
After a tight first half of play, Kean scored just under two minutes into the second half as rookie Deanna Columbia took a cross from senior Kristen Hager for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Shelby Pedersen (pictured left) made in 2-0 five minutes later as she fired in a shot from 12 yards out off a feed from senior Jaclyn Janicky. Senior Carly Seidel quickly made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal off her own rebound in the 53rd minute. Junior Amanda Repko rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick goal at 75:53.
Rookie Samantha Blair picked up her first complete-game win, with three saves in the shutout. Freshman Anna Bandly tallied six saves in the loss for FDU.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology to take on New York University at 3 p.m.
