Hackettstown, N.J. (1/3/13) – Senior
Erika Jones recorded a double-double 24 points and
12 rebounds as the Kean University women's basketball started
off 2013 on the right foot topping Centenary College, 66-44,
Thursday evening.
Sophomore AnnaRose Pierre added 11 points and
eight rebounds for Kean (2-8). Klarissa Perry led
the Cyclones (2-11) with a team-high 14 points.
The Cougars tacked on their first point on a free throw from
Pierre and never trailed from there in the contest. Kean
pushed their lead to double-digits on four occasions in the first
20 minutes, with their largest lead of 12 points (24-12) with 4:38
to go on a bucket from Pierre.
Jones (pictured left) tallied eight first-half points while
Pierre added seven rebounds.
Kean then paced the second half, extending their lead to as many
as 27 points with just under two minutes remaining in the
contest. Sophomore Meghan Williams put the
score at 66-39 with a trey at the 1:43 mark.
The Cougars shot 43% on the game and held the Cyclones to just
22%. Kean also held the advantage on the boards.
Kean will head back to action when they host Rutgers-Camden on
Saturday, with tip-off slated for 3 p.m.
