UNION, N.J. (10/5/13) – Despite holding Ramapo College without a shot on goal in the first 105 minutes, the Kean University men's soccer team fell 1-0 in double-overtime to Ramapo College on Saturday.
Kenny Rocha hit the post and crossbar on two different occasions in the second half, but that was as close as either team got to scoring in regulation. The Kean defense was especially potent – the Cougars held Ramapo without a single shot on goal in the first 100 minutes of the match.
Besides Rocha's two shots off the iron – technically not on goal – Tomasz Wisniewski and Asturias Roncal also tested Ramapo goaltender Brian Petruni for the Cougars in the match.
Midway through the final overtime period, a broken play in the box allowed Ramapo's Luke Giegerich to slide a pass to Dan Boffa who finished the play and the game with a sliding shot as Ramapo walked away with a stunning 1-0 victory.
Kean is now 8-5 on the year and 0-4 in the NJAC, while Ramapo lifted its record to an even 5-5-1 with a 2-3 mark in the conference.
The Cougars will host John Jay College at Kean's East Campus at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
