Delaware, Ohio (8/30/13) – Rookie Kenny Rocha netted the game-winner just under five minutes into the first overtime period to give the Kean University men's soccer team a 2-1 win in their season opener against Kenyon College on Friday.
Playing in the Fred Myers Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University, the Cougars were able take an early 1-0 lead thanks to senior Stephen Moll's goal in the 18th minute off a loose ball in the box. Kean was almost in the closing minutes before Kenyon got on the board and tied the match up at one-all as Josh Lee collected a rebound off a keeper save with 2:22 left in regulation.
Rocha (pictured left) then scored the game winner in OT as he took a long ball from senior Tyler Callahan and tapped it past the Kenyon keeper for the win.
Callahan recorded three saves in the win as Kean outshot Kenyon 17-11, with the Lords edging the Cougars, 6-5 in corner opportunities.
Kean takes on the host Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.
