Field Hockey Edged 1-0 by No. 11 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. (9/24/13) – The Kean University field hockey team dropped a tight 1-0 matchup with its NJAC rival the College of New Jersey on Tuesday night. The Lions entered the game ranked 11th in the nation, while the Cougars were a perfect 8-0.

TCNJ applied most of the offensive pressure though the night, but sophomore goaltender Katie DiCarlo came up big time and time again. She finished with 12 saves to give Kean a chance to win until the final seconds.

The Lion goal came in the 13th minute, as Erin Healy finished a play in front unassisted. It would turn out to be the only score of the night for either side as DiCarlo and Amanda Krause kept both teams off the board in the final 56 minutes of the contest.

Kean's best chance to even it up came on a penalty corner; Stephanie Soares got the ball in to Marissa Robinson, but Robinson's shot missed wide left.

Kean will travel to Division II Mercy College on Friday for a 4 p.m. game before returning home to face Washington and Lee University at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
