Men's Soccer Breezes by St. Joe's 6-0

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (9/4/13) – The Kean University men's soccer team ran through St. Joseph's College 6-0 on Wednesday night. Dominick DeLello scored twice in the first half to lead the Cougars in the victory.

Kean wasted no time establishing their presence, as Kenny Rocha set up DeLello for a header that turned into the first goal of the game just 36 seconds after the kickoff.

After 20 minutes, Kean began a run of three goals in seven minutes that put the game on ice before the match even reached halftime. Tomasz Wisniewski crossed a ball into the box for Akwasi Adu, who chipped it over the goaltender's head and doubled the Kean lead to 2-0.

Three minutes later, Rocha and DeLello connected for another header that made the score 3-0. Another shot off a Cougar noggin, this time by Gordon Lyng fron a Stephen Moll throw-in, gave Kean a 4-0 lead and closed out the first half scoring.

In the second half, Luis Velasquez scored in the 73rd minute with an assist by Payne Vazquez. In the 81st, a Kean corner kick led to the final tally. Edgardo Alfaro put it in with an assist by Velazquez for the sixth goal of the night.

Tyler Callahan made three saves in 81 minutes for the shutout. Brad Watkins played the final nine minutes in goal for the Cougars.

Kean will be back on the pitch at the Jimmy Mills Tournament this weekend at Haverford College on Saturday and Sunday.
