HAVERFORD, Pa. (9/7/13) – The Kean University men's soccer team ran through Ursinus College 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Jimmy Mills Tournament. Five different Cougars scored and Akwasi Adu had three points; the freshman also added an assist on Pablo Valle's goal.
Kean scored a dozen minutes into the game, as senior Stephen Moll notched a penalty kick goal. It was the senior's second goal of the season.
In the late stages of the first half, Adu corralled a pass from junior Cyril Yemofio and put the ball into the back of the cage to give the Cougars some breathing room before the break.
Just after halftime Adu paid the favor forward as he set up Valle for the third tally of the game. UC was able to scrape together a goal at the 61:42 mark, but three minutes later junior Edgardo Alfaro scored an unassisted goal for Kean that ended any hope of a comeback.
In the final 15 seconds sophomore Richard Zapata and junior Jonathan German hooked up for one final goal; German's first of the year and the fifth of the game for Kean.
Kean will be back for the final day at the Jimmy Mills Tournament on Sunday to play host Haverford College.
