Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

No. 9 NYU Tops No. 14 Men's Volleyball

NEW YORK, N.Y. (2/4/14) – In a battle of two Top-15 teams, No. 9 New York University prevailed against No. 14 Kean University in a cross-river matchup on Tuesday night.

Both teams came out swinging well in the first set; the Cougars posted a healthy .348 attack percentage but the Violets were even better at .417 and took the first 25-21.

In the second, both teams made defensive adjustments that brought down their opponent's success rate. NYU was held to just .043, but Kean was -.045 and fell behind 2-0 in the match.

The Cougars put up a great fight in the third, fighting the hosts deep into extra points before finally succumbing 28-26.

Tommy Rosario (pictured left) had a great day for Kean; the sophomore was a perfect 6-for-6 on attack attempts. Ed Jedziniak led the team with eight kills on the night. But the big difference came in the serving department; NYU had five aces, while Kean failed to register any.

The Violets were paced by Chase Klien, the only player for either side with more than Jedziniak's eight kills. Klein finished with 13.  Kean's libero Tom Kemmerle led the way for the Cougars with six digs.

Kean will travel to Springfield College this Saturday for matches against Daniel Webster College and the homestanding Pride beginning at 4 p.m.
