Men's Volleyball Dismantles Sage

UNION, N.J. (3/4/14) – The Kean University men's volleyball team efficiently took care of business against their Skyline Conference rivals from the Sage Colleges in a 3-0 Tuesday night sweep. The Cougars dismissed the Gators in 54 minutes on their way to their 10th-straight win.

Kean is now 13-6 and 6-0 in the conference, while Sage fell to 2-11 and 2-5 in the league.

The Cougars jumped all over Sage from the start. Kean got four-straight blocks – with Tommy Rosario in on all four – followed by back-to-back aces by Ron Dunn to take the first seven points of the match.

The Cougars maintained that cushion for the next 20 points, before another ace by Dunn helped Kean go ahead by double-digits at 17-7.

John Cunningham put an end to the first set with his second kill of the match as the Cougars took it 25-12.

The second set started tighter, with the two sides splitting the first 14 points. But Bez Arslani had a big kill and then a solo block that put Kean in the lead for good. He would finish the night with nine kills on 14 attacks. Sage closed to within one at a few different points in the set, but the Cougars pulled away for the 25-20 victory.

Kean fell behind as the third set started, but a kill by Mike Scheuermann tied the set at five. The set was tied again at 13, at 14 on a kill by Arthur Kosakowski and at 15 on a kill by Scheuermann.

Once again the Cougar depth was too much for the visitors to overcome, as Kean dominated the endgame for a 25-19 victory.

Dylan Krowicki led Sage with 14 kills on the night.

Kean will have a two-week hiatus before resuming Skyline Conference play against the College of Mount Saint Vincent on March 19 at 7p.m. inside Harwood Arena.
