Women's Soccer Shuts Out FDU-Florham

Union, N.J. (9/3/14) – The Kean University women's soccer team used two second half goals on their way to shutting out Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham by the final of 2-0.

The Cougars improve to 2-1 on the short season and will hit the road for the first time this year when they travel to Virginia to take on Virginia Wesleyan and Christopher Newport University this weekend.

The loss is the first for the Devils (1-1) who have only two games under their belt so far after weather already forced a postponement this past weekend.

Kean held the offensive edge throughout (18-6 in shots) but could not capitalize in the first 45 minutes of action.

Junior Grace O'Brien broke up the shutout in the 59th minute as she took a free kick from 20 yards out on the left hand side near the goal and lifted a shot over the defender wall for the strike.

Rookie Kaitlyn Pallitto (pictured left) added insurance at the 77:15 mark as she connected off a scramble in the box for her first collegiate goal, assisted from veteran Shelby Pedersen.

In goal, junior KC Nunez picked up her first shutout of the season to cap off her birthday.  She tallied three saves in the win.  For the Devils, Annie George recorded six saves in the loss.
