Paterson Uses Double OT Goal To Edge Men's Soccer

Wayne, N.J. (10/10/15)Musa Sackoon fired home the golden goal in double overtime to lift William Paterson University to a 1-0 win over men's soccer on Saturday night.

The loss breaks a 10 game win streak for the Cougars who fall to 12-2 and 3-1 in conference play.  The Pioneers improve to 4-5-2 this season and earn their first win in the NJAC (1-2-1).

The Kean offense kept pressure on WP, firing 22 overall shots with 10 on goal.  But Nico Martirano held the Cougars scoreless with those 10 saves as Kean was held scoreless for just the second time this season.

The Pioneers, who tallied eight overall shots and three on goal, used the most of the opportunity in the second overtime as Sackoon used a feed from Fabian Allen to push one over the head of Chidi Iloka for the game-winner.

Despite only having three shots on goal all night, William Paterson did hold a 9-6 advantage in corner opportunities.

The Cougars hope to rebound when they travel to #5 Montclair State University on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. matchup.
