Olivia Colbert led all players with 32 points and registered a double-double with 10 rebounds as Brooklyn drops their season opener.

Kean led at the conclusion of every period but it was a back and forth affair for most of the contest.  The Bulldogs (0-1) started off the contest with six straight points but the Cougars used a 10-0 run to take their first lead of the day.  A layup from Owens put Kean ahead 11-10 and a trey from rookie Tori Schweyer added to the lead shortly thereafter.

The second period was a see-saw contest but it was Owens again who put the Cougars ahead at the break as she recorded her 25th point of the day on a trey at the buzzer from about eight feet beyond the arc as Kean held a slight 36-33 advantage.

Kean controlled the lead for the entire second half and pulled out to a double digit advantage with just over five minutes to go in the game.  The Cougars led by as many as 17 on two occasions late in the quarter.

Sophomore transfer Janté Bracewell tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards while Owens finished the day with five three-pointers, six assists and four steals.  Freshman Diana Todaro was one rebound shy of double-figure.

The Cougars return to non-conference action on Friday when they host the Kean Classic Tournament with the College of Staten Island, Eastern University, and the University of Texas at Dallas all taking part.  Eastern will face UT-Dallas at 5 p.m. with Kean hosting CSI at 7 p.m.
