Fellow freshman Marajiah Bacon had 25 points for Kean on the night. Jaquetta Owens (18) and Tori Schweyher (21) were also in double figures for Kean.

Schweyer and Bacon both had ten points in the first half; the Cougars had a one-point lead at the break. Owens was a force while she was in, but she picked up three personal fouls in the first 20 minutes and had to spend a good deal of time on the bench.

On the opposite bench, the Dolphins were getting good contributions from their reserves, who had a dozen combined points by halftime. Despite getting out-rebounded 28-21, the Cougars stayed in front with the help of nine steals by five different players. CSI was led by Samantha Flecker, who had 13 points at the break.

In the third quarter, Bacon came alive with nine points, including an incredible reverse layup with the score still close. Danielle Oakley nailed a three at end of the third quarter to put a cap on the 33-point period that bumped the lead from one all the way to 16.

The Cougars held serve in the final period, outscoring CSI 24-23 to hang on and advance in the Kean Invitational. Friday's barn-burner marked the highest-scoring Kean game in the Mandy King era in Union.

Flecker finished with 20 points for Staten Island (1-2). Todaro led Kean with a whopping 16 rebounds and Janté Bracewell added 12 boards and Kean's only two blocks. Owens paced the team with six assists and four steals.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow when the Kean Classic concludes. Kean will take on the University of Texas at Dallas in the Championship game at 12:00 p.m.
