UNION, N.J. (11/21/15) – The Kean University women's basketball team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas 83-65 in a battle of unbeatens in the final of the 2015 Kean Classic on Saturday. The Cougars are now 3-1 on the year, while the Comets improved to 3-0.

Janté Bracewell had an impressive first-half stat line for Kean. The sophomore was 6-8 from the floor for 14 points and a team-leading four rebounds. Nevertheless, the Cougars were trailing 36-34 at the break.
Micaela Gonzalez had 10 points for the Comets and Alisa Greene had six points, four rebounds and two assists for the visitors.
Kean tied it up on their first possession of the third quarter on a jumper by Marajiah Bacon, and Bacon knotted the score again at 38 on the next trip down the floor. But Texas-Dallas kept extending its lead through the third quarter, all the way to a maximum of eight midway through the period.
The Comets were up 59-52 after three, and outscored Kean 24-13 in the fourth to claim the 2015 Kean Classic Championship.
Gonzalez (21 points, 15 rebounds) was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, and Zavier Landry 16 points, 5-6 from the floor) was also named to the all-tournament team for the Comets. Bracewell was Kean's representative on the all-tournament team.
Bracewell led the Cougars with both 20 points and seven rebounds. Jaquetta Owens had 19 points and Bacon added 18 for Kean. Owens (pictured left) and Bacon also combined for nine of the Cougars' 13 assists. Ruby Asabor had the only Cougar block of the afternoon.
After the consolation game earlier on Saturday, Emily Lavin of Eastern University and Samantha Flecker of the College of Staten Island were also announced as All-Kean Invitational Team members.
Next up, the Cougars will open up NJAC play on Tuesday at No. 12 Montclair State University at 6 p.m.
