UNION, N.J. (3/22/15) – The No. 5 Kean University men's volleyball team won six-straight sets on Sunday – Senior Day – to sweep The College of Mount Saint Vincent and Yeshiva University in Skyline Conference action.
The Cougars celebrated the careers of seniors Ron Dunn, Bez Arslani, Ed Jedziniak, John Cunningham and Kyle Farley before the matches started on Sunday. They have been part of the past three Skyline Conference title-winners, and once again have Kean in first place this year.
Kean earned straight set wins over the College of Mt. St. Vincent (25-13, 25-13, 25-17) and Yeshiva University (25-4, 25-12, 25-14) to improve to 8-0 in the Skyline and 22-3 overall this spring.
Dunn and Steve Schrank split the setting duties on Sunday nearly in half, with 32 and 33 assists, respectively. Arslani and Shady Taylor both reached double-digit kills, and Arslani also had a dozen digs on Sunday.
Tommy Rosario had five blocks to lead the team in that category, while Andrew Bliss fired off six aces as the Cougars outserved their two opponents 26-3 in the aces column.
Other stats were similarly dominant: kills 85-31, blocks 14.5-4.0, assists 73-27 and digs 53-34. The total points earned count was 121.5-37.0.
Kean will return to action on Wednesday against Ramapo College in a Skyline Conference showdown in Mahwah.
