Women's Lacrosse Erupts for 18 Goals in First Win

Union, N.J. (3/26/15) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team exploded for 18 goals to pick up their first win of 2015 by the final of 18-2 over The Sage Colleges on Thursday evening.

Senior Meghan Schneck  (pictured left) led the attack with a five goal night while juniors Sam Gnapp and Jordan Blanda each recorded hat tricks as the Cougars now stand with a 1-5 record.

Shannon Rossi had a hand in both Sage goals, assisting on the first and scoring the second, both of which came in the second half.

Kean sprinted out of the gate, scoring seven goals in the first 10 minutes of action.  The goals seemed to come in bunches as Gnapp put away the first two of the contest, followed by an unassisted goal from senior Maggie Brocklebank.  Blanda then tallied the hat-trick with three straight, for a 6-0 lead with 22:09 to go in the first.

The Cougars then paced the offense as 17 players saw action in the game.  Kean walked into the break with a 14-0 lead.

Sage broke up the shutout with 28:17 to go on a goal from Shirah Fudin and added one more on a transition with an empty net with 18:41 on the clock.

Rookie Emily Stasuk finished the night with two goals and an assist while adding three draw controls.  Brocklebank had two goals and one assist.

Kean returns to action on Saturday when they travel to FDU-Florham for a 1p.m. matchup.
