BONXVILLE, N.Y. (2/28/15) – The No. 5 men's volleyball team made short work of both SUNY Purchase and Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference sweep on Saturday. The closest set with Purchase was 25-15, while Kean held the Gryphons of SLC to an average of 8.7 points per set.
Freshmen Shady Taylor (pictured left) and Bill Fischer set the pace for Kean in both matches, leading the Cougars with 16 and 14 kills, respectively, on Saturday. Fischer hit .571 and Taylor was right behind at .462.
In fact, Kean hit .366 as a team on Saturday while holding the Panthers and Gryphons to a -.100 percentage in the three sets.
Andrew Bliss added a dozen kills for Kean, and Steve Schrank sent up 49 assists for the Cougars. Taylor and Connor Evans ripped five service aces each. Kean had 21 total aces and surrendered just one.
Blocking was another Kean strong suit, with the men from Union racking up 13.5 (led by Taylor with four) and getting blocked just once themselves.
The Cougars remain perfect in the Skyline at 11-0 and are 25-3 overall. They will return to play Sarah Lawrence again tomorrow, part of a Skyline trimatch with the Sage Colleges beginning for Kean at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
