Mahwah, N.J. (4/22/15) – Junior Jordan Blanda led all players with seven goals as the Kean University women's lacrosse team topped Ramapo College, 18-9.
The Cougars improved to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC as they won their fifth straight contest. The loss drops Ramapo to 5-8, 1-4 in conference play.
Kean opened up to a 3-0 lead in the first eight minutes of action as rookie Eliza Clark scored the game's first goal followed by consecutive goals from senior Maggie Brocklebank.
Ramapo's Lindsay Hughes would get the Roadrunners on the board, but the Cougars fired back with six straight to pull ahead, 9-1. Ramapo scratched across two before the break as Kean headed into halftime with a 9-3 advantage.
Brocklebank led Kean with four first half tallies.
The final 30 minutes saw lots of offensive action as both teams combined for 15 goals, with the Cougars leading the charge with another nine-spot.
Clark finished the day with three goals and an assist plus two groundballs, two draw controls and three caused turnovers. Junior Sam Gnapp provided two goals, an assist and a draw control.
Freshman Nikki Apostolopoulos (pictured left) earned the win in net with 15 saves on the afternoon.
Kean closes out the regular season on Saturday when they host #8 The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
