Sev Kherlopian Scores Once, Assists Twice in 3-2 Men's Soccer Win

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (9/5/15) – Sophomore Sev Kherlopian of the Kean University men's soccer team had a hand in all three goals as the Cougars topped Widener University 3-2 on Saturday at the Garnet Alumni Classic at Susquehanna.

First, Kherlopian set up freshman Timofei Kharisov for his first collegiate goal 30 minutes into the game. The Cougars had a quick restart after a foul and Kharisov curled the shot in for a 1-0 halftime lead. Widener pulled even five minutes into the second half on a goal by Tori Remondelli.

Five minutes later, Kherlopian picked up a rebound off Andrew Lopes' shot and slid it into the net for the 2-1 advantage.

In the 70th minute, Remondelli struck again and tied the match at two on a free kick.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Lopes and Kherlopian hooked up again to score the game-winner. It was a similar plan. This time, Kherlopian took the initial shot. When it was saved, Lopes (pictured left) was there to head in the rebound and take the 3-2 lead.

Brad Watkins earned the win gin goal for Kean. The Cougars are now 2-0 on the year.  Widener fell to 0-2.

Kean will be back in action on Sunday at Swarthmore at 4 p.m. in the second game of the Garnet Alumni Classic.
