No. 11 Men's Volleyball Splits on Day Two

ALBANY, N.Y. (1/23/16) – The No. 11 Kean University men's volleyball team kept its record at the Wildcat Invitational even with another split on the second and final day of the event on Saturday. The Cougars knocked off host SUNY Institute of Technology in the finale after falling to Vassar College in the day's first match.

Against the hosting Wildcats, Kean won the opening set easily 25-18 and outlasted SUNYIT in a 28-26 thriller to go up two sets to one. The Cougars dropped the third set but rallied to win another tight one in the fourth 25-23 to take the match.

Shayron Taylor (13), Tommy Rosario (10) and Jacob Kauffman (10) were all in double figures in the kill column during the match for the Cougars. Rosario hit a whopping .529 on 17 swings with just one error.

Steve Schrank had a season-high 30 assists for Kean and also led the team with a dozen digs. Kauffman and Nick Breslin had seven and Taylor added six.

Rosario (pictured left) and Taylor were also a formidable blocking tandem, with Rosario racking up nine blocks and Taylor in on seven.

Against the Brewers the Cougars had less luck, falling in straight-sets. Kean is now 4-3 on the year. Vassar went undefeated (4-0) through the Wildcat Invitational and SUNIT is 2-2.
