Men's Soccer Falls to Rutgers-Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (10/15/16) – The Kean University men's soccer team fell to Rutgers-Camden 4-2 after an action-packed six-goal second half on Saturday.

The two teams are still close in the NJAC standings after Saturday's result: Kean is 13-4 overall and 4-3 in the NJAC, while Camden improved to 8-4-3 overall and 4-2-1 in the league.

The Cougars had the better run of play in the first half, outshooting Rutgers 13-4 and earning four corner kicks without conceding any. But despite the statistical advantage, the game was scoreless into the break.

The Scarlet Raptors flipped the story in the second half. Darnell Brown and Brad Maine scored in the first 10 minutes after halftime, and Maine added another tally in the 76th minute for a 3-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Kazari Trought (pictured left) notched an unassisted goal  after a scramble near the near post to get Kean back within striking distance.

But almost immediately from the re-start, Mike Taylor ripped a shot toward the right post that went in for Rutgers' fourth goal. Kenny Rocha scored with an assist from Alex Noriega in the 85th but the Cougars could not muster any further comeback in the limited time available to them.

Kean will hit the road again on Wednesday for a trip to Drew University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
