UNION, N.J. (12/7/16) – The Kean University men's basketball team kept up with New Jersey City University – which is receiving votes in the national poll - for a good chunk of their game on Wednesday night. The Gothic Knights are the de facto No. 28 team in the nation and won 78-52 thanks to a big second half.

Kean took an early lead in the game, and then engineered a 10-0 run that featured four different scorers to keep pace through the opening period. The Cougars were within three points as late as 6:42 of the first half, when Michael Summerer hit a layup.
Nine different players scored in the game for the Cougars, led by Micah Kerr's effort of six points, six rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Justin Watson reached double figures (12 points) and Kevin Grek had eight.
Summerer paced the team with eight boards.
The Gothic Knights were led by a trio of scorers in double figures: Jalen Harris, Sam Toney and Ata Robinson had 17, 15 and 12 points, respectively.
NJCU improved to 7-1 and 4-0 in NJAC play with the win. Kean is now 0-7 and 0-4 in the league.
The Cougars will hit the road on Saturday for an NJAC date with Ramapo College with tipoff set for 3 p.m.
