Galloway, N.J. (2/13/16) – Stockton University used a strong third quarter surge to push past the Kean University women's basketball by the final of 77-63 on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Ospreys kept pace in the New Jersey Athletic Conference standings in a three way tie at the top (14-3). With the loss the Cougars are in tie with William Paterson in the fourth spot. All teams have one game left on the regular season slate on Wednesday, February 17th.
In today's action, both teams see-sawed with each other as Stockton held a six point advantage after one period before Kean rallied from a 12 point deficit in the second quarter to tie things up at the intermission.
The third period would be the deciding factor as the Cougars suffered a six minute dry spell that turned a 36-33 lead into a 49-36 deficit.
Kean kept pace in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough to overcome the disadvantage.
Freshman Marajiah Bacon (pictured left) led all players with 25 points while Jaquetta Owens chipped in with 13 points and senior Eden Obou added 11. Sasha Williams led the Ospreys with a double-double 17 points and 17 rebounds in addition to eight blocks.
The Cougars close out the regular season on Wednesday when they host The College of New Jersey at 6 p.m.
