Misericordia Tops Baseball

Rincon, P.R. (3/10/16) – The Kean University baseball team fell to Misericordia University by the final of 5-1 on Thursday.

Misericordia evened their record at 4-4 while Kean fell to 6-6.

MU used a balanced scoring attack to push out to a 4-0 lead.  Kean scratched across a single run in the fifth as Matt Meleo and Frank Urso led off the inning with back-to-back singles.  With two outs, senior Chris Amato found the hole to erase the shutout.

Kean's best scoring chance came in the seventh as KU loaded the bases with two outs.  Misericordia got out of the jam with a strikeout to end the threat.

Amato (pictured left) and Meleo each had two hits for Kean.

On the mound, rookie Tyler Hopman tossed seven innings of relief after picking up the win in yesterday's twinbill.

Kean has one more game on tap in Puerto Rico when they take on Arcadia University on Friday.
