GLASSBORO, N.J. (4/16/16) – The Kean University softball team fell to first-place Rowan University by scores of 6-1 and 1-0 in NJAC action on Saturday.
Prof pitching dominated the day; Beth Ann Hyland tossed the entire first game and allowed just one run on three hits. She started the second game as well.
Hyland ony threw the first inning of game two for Rowan, however. Alisson Nolan and MacKenzie Juodaitis split the final six innings and struck out a combined nine batters; Nolan was perfect over the final three frames.
Senior Tonianne DeMatteo scored Kean's only run of the afternoon after strking a one-out double in the third inning of game one. Olivia Zengel singled to more her to third and Emily Sabo drove in DeMatteo with a base knock to leftfield. Those back-to-back-to-back hits were the only hits allowed by Hyland in the game.
Caroline Ratti (pictured left) went 2-for-3 in the second contest for the Cougars.
The Cougars will return home on Tuesday for another big NJAC doubleheader against Ramapo College with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
