Men's Lax Tops FDU 9-8 in Instant Classic

MADISON, N.J. (4/6/16) – The Kean University men's lacrosse team won a tremendous contest with Fairleigh Dickinson University – Florham by a 9-8 count on Wednesday. Anthony Carpenter scored the game-winner with 36 seconds to go and goaltender Maxwell Fields made a nice save on a last-chance would-be buzzer-beater to secure the win for the Cougars.

The teams were never separated by more than two goals in the game. Kean improved to 7-3 with the victory and Matt Brodley had his fourth career hat trick in the game.

With the score tied at eight and 1:59 remaining, Ed Adams won his 11th faceoff of the night to give the Cougars possession. The ball hit the turf in the FDU zone, but Carpenter scooped it up  and then created his own scoring opportunity to net what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

The Devils did have a good chance at the equalizer, but Fields made the big save with three ticks left to deliver the Kean victory.

Adams finished with a team-best sven ground balls and Carpenter added five. Max McNicholas (pictured left) was a defensive force with three of Kean's eight caused turnovers credited to the freshman.

Eric Talbot, Forrest Terpe, Matt Speciale and Adams also found the back of the net for the Cougars, and Anthony Perrotta finished with two assists.

Kean will be back at home in Skyline action on Saturday against Farmingdale State College at 1 p.m.
