York, Pa. (9/11/16) - A decisive goal in the 109th minute gave the Kean University women's soccer team a 2-1 win over Franklin & Marshall on Sunday afternoon.
The defeat brought an end to the York Women's Soccer Classic Tournament for both teams with each team now standing with an overall 2-3 record.
Knotted at 1-1, a Kean corner led to a Jordyn Bronsky goal that ended the contest on a shot from 10 yards out with just 34 seconds on the clock on a cross from Deana Abdou.
Shots favored the Cougars by a 15-4 overall margin, despite holding just a 4-1 edge following the first half. Corners were even at 7-7 with fouls standing at 14-9 against Kean.
A shot from 30 yards out from Brittany Morales (pictured left) found the bottom right of the goal in the 64th minute to put the Cougars up 1-0 in the second half. The score looked to hold, however, with four minutes left to go in regulation, F&M's Hannah Robertson forced overtime with her first career goal. The freshman collected a loose ball out in front and one-timed a shot into the bottom right of the goal.
Kean threatened late in overtime number one, but sent an attempt wide in the 98th minute and a shot high in the closing seconds of the frame. Neither offense generated many scoring opportunities in the second overtime before Bronsky's dramatic tally broke the tie.
Lauren Healey (2-3) earned the win for Kean.
