SELINSGROVE, Pa. (9/3/16) – Junior Teresa Carr set up classmate Krista LaMaina (pictured left) for the game-winning goal 1:02 into overtime to give the Kean University field hockey team its fourth-straight Connie Harnum Classic Championship over host Susquehanna University on Saturday.
Sophomore Erin Smith earned her first career shutout and made three saves in the game that went scoreless over 71 minutes. Kean outshot Susquehanna 13-4 and owned a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners. The spirited tilt also featured four green cards and five yellow cards handed out.
Goalie Morgan Ludlam made five saves for the Crusaders, who fell to 1-1 on the year.
Jordan Colna led the Cougars with four shots and put all of them on-goal. Shauna LaMaina took three shots as well.
This marks the fourth-straight year that Kean has captured the season-opening Connie Harnum Classic at Susquehanna.
The Cougars (2-0) will resume the regular season on Wednesday at Vassar College at 7 p.m.
