Union, N.J. (9/3/16) – The Kean University women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to St. John Fisher College in day two of the Cougar Classic on Saturday afternoon.
After falling behind 1-0 on a Taryn Guinta open net goal in the 18th minute, the Cougars (0-2) notched things up at one-all as transfer Cori Dengel registered the first goal of the 2016 season with just over seven minutes to go in the first half. Dengel used a Lexy Monroy pass into the box that she chipped in for the equalizer.
The Cardinals (1-1) recorded the go-ahead marker in the 79th minute as Nicolle Pierce used a short feed from Emily Murray.
In all, Kean out shot St. John Fisher, 21-11 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Lauren Healey tallied four saves while Gabrielle Cotugno had 11 in the win.
Kean will be back in action as they face FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening.
