JERSEY CITY, N.J. (2/1/17) – 10 different Cougars scored as the Kean University women's basketball team nearly doubled up New Jersey City University 69-35 on Wednesday conference action. Freshman De'Mean Bond posted her 11th double-double of the season to lead the Cougars to the NJAC victory.
Kean is no 13-7 and 10-3 in the NJAC. The Gothic Knights fell to 4-16 and 0-13 in the league.
Besides Bond's 15 points and 12 rebounds, Marajiah Bacon was the only other player to reach double figures with 16. Kean featured a balanced attack; Jaquetta Owens had nine points and a game-high six assists. Miesha Bacon and Kat Papalski both had six and Payce Lange added five.
Cindy Foresta and Alexa Vreeland posted new career highs, and fellow freshman Camille Flim (pictured left) scored her first collegiate basket with a fourth-quarter jumper. Ruby Asabor was the other Cougar scorer.
Kean led wire-to-wire and held an 18-0 edge in transition points, a 34-11 advantage in points off turnovers and a 36-12 lead in points in the paint.
The Cougars will return home on Saturday to host Rutgers-Camden in another NJAC matchup.
