Union, N.J. (4/24/18) – The Kean University baseball team completed their non-conference schedule with a win against Drew University on Tuesday by the final of 8-5.
Senior Matt Krupa was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored as Kean improved to 18-18 overall. The loss drops the Rangers to 15-15 this season. They were led by Brent Lincoln who was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The Cougars fell behind 4-1 as Drew plated two runs in the first and two more in the third. Kean tied things up with a three spot in the fourth. Krupa got the ball rolling with a single, he later scored on a double steal. Freshman Zach Joe singled home Nick Polizzano and Joe moved around the bases on an errant pickoff throw, a stolen base and a passed ball, putting the score at four-all.
Kean took the lead in the fifth on an RBI double from Krupa and a sacrifice fly from Polizzano.
Joe was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Tim Huxen was 1-for-2 with three runs scored.
Derek Walker (2-0) earned the win in relief. He allowed one earned run and two hits in three and a third innings of work. Kyle Gaeb earned his second save of the season with a one-two-three ninth frame.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Thursday when they travel to Rutgers-Camden.
