Baseball Posts 8-5 Win Over Drew

Union, N.J. (4/24/18) – The Kean University baseball team completed their non-conference schedule with a win against Drew University on Tuesday by the final of 8-5.

Senior Matt Krupa was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored as Kean improved to 18-18 overall.  The loss drops the Rangers to 15-15 this season.  They were led by Brent Lincoln who was 2-for-3 with three RBI.

The Cougars fell behind 4-1 as Drew plated two runs in the first and two more in the third.  Kean tied things up with a three spot in the fourth.  Krupa got the ball rolling with a single, he later scored on a double steal.  Freshman Zach Joe singled home Nick Polizzano and Joe moved around the bases on an errant pickoff throw, a stolen base and a passed ball, putting the score at four-all.

Kean took the lead in the fifth on an RBI double from Krupa and a sacrifice fly from Polizzano.

Joe was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Tim Huxen was 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Derek Walker (2-0) earned the win in relief.  He allowed one earned run and two hits in three and a third innings of work.  Kyle Gaeb earned his second save of the season with a one-two-three ninth frame.

Kean returns to NJAC action on Thursday when they travel to Rutgers-Camden.
