Patchogue, N.Y. (4/26/18) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team tied a program record for wins in a season as they defeated St. Joseph's College-Long Island, 14-7 on Thursday evening.
Morgan Graham led the Cougars (14-2) with three goals and an assist in Kean's 14th win of the season. The win tally matches the Cougars mark of 14 wins that occurred during the 2008 campaign.
After trading single goals to start the contest, Kean took the lead for good with a three goal spurt. Krista LaMaina, Graham and Emily Stasuk all had goals in the run. After allowing a single tally with 15 minutes to go in the half, the Cougars registered three more for an 8-2 halftime advantage.
The Cougars and Golden Eagles played evenly statistically in the second half but Kean's first half advantage was able to hold up for the comfortable win.
Nikki Apostolopoulos made 11 saves in net in the win.
Offensively Sarah Powers and Stasuk each finished with two goals while Danni LeSaint added three.
Kean returns home for their final regular season matchup against #1 The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 1 p.m.
