Seven First Half Goals Propel Cougars to Non-Conference Victory over Medgar Evers

UNION, N.J. (10/10/19) – Seven first half goals propelled the Kean University men's soccer team to an 8-0  shutout victory over Medgar Evers College on Thursday evening.

Brandon Grine notched two goals for the Cougars who improve to 8-4-1 overall. James Hyacinthe made 12 saves for the Cougars who fall to 1-9 overall.

Kean tallied seven unanswered goals on 24 shots in the opening stanza. Grine scored two, while Mario Ramirez Jr. tallied two assists and Max Acosta collected a goal and an assist as the Cougars proved to be too much for the Brooklyn school. Alex Nicol, Felix Pereyra, Calvin Carbajal and Phil Lopes were also credited with goals in the first half.

MEC showed up with just 11 players and played most of the second half with 10 after Carl Henry Obeissant was ejected with a straight red in the 44th minute.

Kean dominated on shots (42-0) and corner kicks (9-0). Carbajal, Patryk Kowal, Shervand Hippolyte and Grine all tallied five shots apiece. Nicholas Millett saw his first action of the season in goal playing the final 15 minutes of the contest.

Head Coach Peter-John Falloon and the Cougars will return to action in Ewing, N.J. on Saturday, Oct. 12th, against the Lions of the College of New Jersey at 6:00 p.m.
